Ever wish you could listen in on your favorite podcasts while you were away from the computer? Maybe you’re traveling, stuck at the airport and all you have with your is your cell phone? Wouldn’t be nice if you could listen to your favorite podcasts by simply dialing a number, basically having a podcast sent to your cell phone? Well there are two really cool services out there that let you do exactly that!
Podlinez is a really simple and easy to use service that lets you assign dedicated phone numbers to podcasts. First go to the site and search for a podcast as it might already be there. If so, just dial the number to begin listening to the latest podcast.
If it’s not included, anyone can add the podcast by entering in the RSS feed URL for the podcast and a dedicated phone number will be assigned to it.
You can use the * and # keys on your phone to skip forward and backwards in one minute increments while listening to the recording. You can also promote your podcast using Podlinez by grabbing a button that you can put on your blog. The button will allow users to see your dedicated phone number for your podcast on Podlinez.
Another service that is very similar to Podlinez is Fonpods. Fonpods works much the same as Podlinez except that it has a single phone number for accessing all podcasts. You can call the number 1 (712) 432-3030 without having to register and browse through the list of podcasts sorted into categories. If you register a phone number, you can call in that number and listen to specific content you’ve setup previously, this by-passing the menu.
Using Fonpods, you can create a list of more than one podcast and listen to them all when you call in. Also, Fonpods gives more detailed information about each podcast that is added to their database. For example, you can read a description of the podcast, read an overview of the latest podcast itself, and view the rating for the podcast as voted on by listeners.
Both services are useful in their own ways! Podlinez is good if you want to subscribe to just one podcast and that’s it. Fonpods is better if you listen to more than one podcast and want access from your mobile phone. Podlinez requires no setup or registration and both are completely free.

My first choice for best web 2.0 app of 2007 “Podlinez.com”
I have been checking out the podlinez service.
It allows you to add your podcast and instantly get a telephone number. This is a fantastic service for all podcasters and music publishers.
A great way to introduce your bands songs to listeners worldwide who might not have a computer by getting your own Song Number.
btw i have been trying to connect to fonpods and it shows up as a broken link. So it looks like podlinez is the way to go for now.
