Long volume label only works for NTFS partition and not FAT32.

Hi.
I have a small problem I’m trying to solve.

I want the flash drive label to display in a colored and stylish font- specifically the Coca Cola font.

How can I do this?

Didn’t work for me. I used Bill’s version of writing the icon name. Result: Icon showed in Explorer but the label remained as ‘Removable Disk’. I think I’m running XP-SP3. Ideas?

When I try to save my autorun .inf file it says I already have one, do I want to replace it? Do I?

Bill > Windows 98 does not have this capability, it was added in Windows XP, and may only work with SP2 installed.

Icons from autorun.inf may not work on all systems. I am aware of some Dell PC’s which seem to be unable to display custom icons and labels from autorun.inf files. No ideas why. Same device works fine on non-Dell systems.

I created an autorun.inf file as follows:

[Autorun]
icon=bird.ico
label=my lebel

The above file works with Windows XP but not with Windows 98SE. Any idea why?

hi
i use USB drive to transfer data from one PC to another friends pc and i format it after doing so to prevent it from any virus. in this case the autorun.inf and myicon.ico file would get delete.

can we store these file permanently in flash drive ??

That was nice tip aseem. I used to personalize it by providing the volume name during formatting.
