GameFly.Com - The Distance Rental Solution For Video Games
Posted on January 25, 2008 at 6:43 am
I love video games, but can never decide which ones are actually worth buying. After buying the a Nintendo Wii, I decided that I needed a solution to my endless desire for new video games (without spending a fortune, of course!). The solution was a Netflix-inspired service called GameFly.
GameFly offers video games for all of the major gaming systems (PS2, PS3, PSP, XBOX 360, XBOX, Wii, GC, DS, and GBA). It has over 5000 titles and offers free shipping and no late fees, just like Netflix. So far, I have had a great experience with this service – receiving games in only a couple days and being able to swap them out as quickly as I like.
There are different plans, depending on how much of a gamer you really are. For one rental at a time, it only costs $15.95 per month. The better deal, however, is to sign up for the two rentals at a time plan for only $22.95 per month. With game prices often soaring over $40 for a single game, this is a great way to try a ton of different games for a very low price. Think about it – if you spend a couple days trying each game out, you can play more than ten different games each month for less than one game would cost to purchase.
If you find a game you love, you can easily purchase it through GameFly’s website for a fraction of the cost of purchasing it new. They will even mail you the packaging that it originally came with.

As with every great service, there are always a drawbacks to be aware of. With GameFly, they only have a limited number of each game, so if it is a very popular game, there is a chance that you might have to wait a little while to have it sent to you. However, the upside is that they will automatically send you the next game on your lists, so you will still have something to play while you wait.

Since there are so many titles to choose from , I have a hard time picking which ones I want to try. GameFly makes it a little bit easier by providing easy access to game descriptions and user reviews – which definitely helps in the selection process. All in all, this is a great service for avid gamers (or just anyone who can’t make up their mind). If you have used this site, post a comment and let me know how you liked it!
