PicResize - Free online photo editor
Posted on March 5, 2008 at 7:02 am
A few years back, you and I could only edit a picture inside a Windows computer, offline. With new, rich web applications coming our way, there are many free online picture editors that we can use to enhance and modify pictures quickly, without having to download and install a photo editor inside the computer.
An online picture editor is most useful when you are using a public computer in guest mode where you don’t have the rights to install any program. PicResize is a good example of a free editor with a nice set of picture editing tools.

PicResize Online Picture Editor Features
PicResize offers an intuitive and responsive interface suitable for beginners in the realm of picture editing. To use it, upload a picture to the PicResize website and enjoy the following features:
- Select the best section of a picture with the Crop tool.
- Rotate a picture on its side or upside down.
- Increase or decrease a picture’s luminance with Brightness.
- Increase or decrease shadows and highlight differences with the Contrast tool.
- Draw freely with selectable brush sizes and colors with the Brush tool.
- Add a caption inside a picture with the Text tool. You can change the font size, type and color if you want to.
- Select and deselect a section of a picture.
- Multi level undo and redo.

- Advanced picture editing tools
- Make a picture appear out of focus with the Gaussian Blur tool.
- Make a picture appear in focus with the Sharpen tool.
- Add frame / border to a picture with the Raised Frame tool.
- Create picture effects like tilt to the left, tilt to the right or stack effect with the Polaroid tool.
-

-
- Add oil paint effects to your picture.
- Add noise effects to your picture with the Spread tool.
- Change your colored picture to black and white with the Grayscale tool.
- “Revert to original” - if you screw up your pictures, you don’t have to reupload again! Just click this button to reclaim your original photo.
- Save edited picture in GIF, JPEG or PNG format to your desktop.
- Picture Quality - get a quick comparison of your pictures in different sizes. Quickly select the best picture with optimum quality and size before you proceed with your download.

- Cursor position support - pinpoint a selection inside a picture with accurate precision.
- Batch resize tool - useful to resize multiple pictures in one shot.
- Fetch function - this one is most useful if you are a photo blogger. You can easily insert a PicResize link for any pictures inside your blog. This way, your site visitors can edit the pictures with PicResize before downloading it to their computer. Cool!
- For example, clicking on this link will allow you to edit the Yahoo! logo inside PicResize.
The best part of PicResize is that it is so easy to use! You don’t have to read lengthy manual pages before you can start enjoying the photo editing experience. With PicResize, you don’t have to edit the whole picture if you don’t want to; most of the tool allows you to select only a portion of the picture to edit. So, if you want to edit a portrait with a blurred face, you can! PicResize is one of the best free online picture editors that I’ve used, give it shot!

I used a similar online tool called Resizr . But this is has got good features too.
I’ve also read about a couple of cool sites that you can use to resize and edit photos online, but I really like this one a lot since it’s very fast.
