I tried to play an AVI file, but Windows Media Player says there is something wrong with the file. Why won’t it play?

Ok so I got it but apparantly every avi fixer says its not an avi but I am sure it is because I use to be able to play it and it said it was an avi file.

Doesn’t work on avi’s created with xvid codec.

My AVI file will not play on my computer, I think it is corrupted, but I am not sure. I tried playing it through VLC and get an error message.
