Emurse - Free online resume builder and resume creator

Creating and managing an online resume for today’s job postings can be a royal pain for some people. If you have multiple skills, you might have a separate resume for each type of skill with different work experience, etc. You probably also make a lot of changes to your resume over time, but would like to keep track of what was written earlier.

And finally, when applying for jobs, you might need to send your resume in different formats: Word, PDF, or maybe you have to paste it into an online form as text. Creating and managing resumes on Monster or CareerBuilder is the most common way for people to store their resumes online. However, the major problem is that you can use the online resume only for jobs listed on their site. Want to apply for a job on Dice and you have to start from scratch!

Emurse helps to reduce the pain of creating, sharing, and storing your resume online by making it free and easy to use. Here are some of the major features of Emurse:

Online Resume Builder

You can quickly create a professional looking resume on Emurse that is hosted online and is available for download in many formats. No longer do you have to worry about your resume being lost because of a computer crash or a virus attack, it’s always online available for viewing, editing and sharing.

Personal Resume Website

Emurse is really nice because you can use it to host your own resume website to create a personal online identity for employers. Using Emurse, you can get a custom website address just for your online resume profile. The really cool thing is that you can get stats on who viewed your profile, i.e. employers, etc. You can also password protect your resume or put other privacy controls in place. Also, your resume will show up in the search engines and Emurse will give you stats on clicks and impressions, etc. Neat!

Personalized Job Posting and Job Search

Another nice feature is that Emurse will analyze your resume (kind of like Gmail does to your email) and will list out job postings in your area that match your resume, so you can quickly find jobs from across multiple job sites (Monster, CareerBuilder) right from Emurse. You can also perform custom searches across the entire web from Emurse.

Networking Management

You can keep track of your past and current colleagues using the Emurse Contact Manager. This is a great way to keep track of all of your potential references and their most recent contact info. You can search your contacts by personalized tags or their resumes (if you have access to them).

The home page is where you will be able to see a list of all of your resumes stored online and the last time they were updated. You’ll also see a graph of the activity for your resume in the last week if you have it hosted on a custom web page. You’ll see the jobs you might be interested in on the right.

Once you share out your resume, employers will be able to find you via the search engines, they will be able to download your resume in any format they wish, and they’ll have the most recent copy automatically. You can also setup the download links into your blog, website, or via email.

Overall, the Emurse online resume building service is very nice considering it’s free! I’m definitely considering using this service as I’m tired of having my resume in 5 locations online and then having to update each one once I make a change on my local computer. Enjoy!

Hey I saw this service around 1 and half years back and since then it has improved a lot. However, they are have got…those paid stuff…I mean nothing bad in that…but still they should have given more options in the free thing.

    ReviewSaurus,

Yeah they do have some extra features for a little bit of money, but the basic services of creating and sharing a resume are free. I just like the fact that I don’t have to keep uploading my resume to 10 places.
