Download Torrent Files Without P2P Sharing Software

If you are ever in a position where downloading a P2P file-sharing client is not an option, you can still download torrents with a service called Torrent2Exe. As always with downloading torrents, make sure your virus protection is up to date and running properly before downloading files from unknown sources.
To use Torrent2Exe, first find a torrent you would like to download. One of our favorite places to look is ThePirateBay.org, but recent legal troubles has made their server unpredictable. So, try browsing torrentreactor.net instead. For our test, we downloaded a torrent of a Farmville PDF Manual.
Next, navigate to http://www.Torrent2Exe.com. Click the Choose File button to select the torrent you just downloaded.
There are two options below the Choose File button. The first, Small size, additional program components will be automatically downloaded on first start (no user interaction required), means your downloader will not be entirely downloaded until you go to install it, which will add time later. The second option, Normal size, no additional download will be required, downloads the entire downloader file up front.
After you have made your selection, click the yellow Start Download button.
You are then asked where you would like to save the file. Choose a place on your computer and click Save. The downloader is a small .exe file that will download your full file. Open the file after it downloads and you will receive a notice to set your firewall to allow the download, if you need to do so. Click OK.
A downloader then appears showing your file’s download progress. Depending on the size of the file and the amount of available seeds (and their, and your, internet connection speeds), this could take awhile. Our best speed with this small PDF was 12 KBPS.
While you are waiting on your download, if you want to share this same file with friends, you can send them the .exe file you downloaded from Torrent2exe.com. If you have your own Web site, you can follow the quick directions on Torrent2exe.com for adding a download script to your site.
When your file is done, you are shown a window prompting you to share, or seed, this file. You have the choice to share a certain number of megabytes of the file, or to seed it for a predetermined time period.
You can also choose to change the numbers to 0 just open the file, but you are warned that many file sharers will not allow future downloads if you do this. When you have made your decision, click Open Download and Close this Window. Your file will then open.
Besides the obvious potential copyright morality issues and virus vulnerability, Torrent2Exe provides a valuable service. It does exactly what it says it does, but as always, download torrents with extreme caution and good virus protection.

I’m more worried about the .EXE files (the one provided by torrent2exe.com) themselves. If the owner of the site is not bonafide, I think we should proceed this method of torrent downloading with caution.
Norton says that this is a trojan.
