How to detect and bypass keyloggers

Posted on July 2, 2008 at 5:19 am

Looking for a way to bypass keylogger software on a computer? Recently, my Internet service providers began to have problems, and I was disconnected for about a day. So, to continue with my daily Internet duties, my only option was an internet cafe. However, there was just one problem - I was afraid the computer could have a keylogger installed!

Public computers are used by a large variety of people, some who have no idea what a keylogger is, and others, who can keylog the computers easily to gain access to passwords.

So, as you can see, logging into my paypal account was a very scary thing to do. So, for that day, instead of doing my normal Internet browsing, I looked around for a way to safely log into my email, Paypal and other accounts even if the computer had a keylogger installed.

And I found one.

KYPS is a free reverse proxy server, avaliable to anyone who wants it, made by a Andreas Pashalidis, which allows us to safely log into any computer, public or not, without fear of losing our passwords to some keylogger. KYPS is easy-to-pick up, and requires no software of any sort.

It works by using One Time Codes, printed from the KYPS website, that can be used to log onto any computer safely, knowing that even if your password is stolen, it’s only a one time password, so it cannot be used again by the hacker. Once printed out, the paper can be stored and carried around easily inside a pocket or a wallet.

KYPS

Pretty sweet concept, eh?

KYPS won’t log you or capture any passwords, it simply takes the password, encrypts it into a one time code, which can only be decrypted by the KYPS system, and logs in via that. Then it deletes the one time code as a password, and all is back to normal.

Just visit http://kyps.net/, register and get your one time codes.

As a nice cherry-on-top-of-the-cake, KYPS also acts as a proxy, so your privacy is protected for anyone who wants to know what websites you’ve been on, and so on. You can see this if you look at the URL in the address bar when you’re using KYPS, you’ll see it doesn’t show the websites URL, instead it has KYPS.net followed by a large amount of random characters and symbols, to maximize security.

KYPS seems like a real sweet find, and it really is something, with it being absolutely 100% free. It’s one of those things that seem so good, it’s feels like you SHOULD buy it, regardless of whether it’s free or not.

But, regardless, I’d just like to say one thing. Happy Safe Surfing.

I thought I’d seen a tool somewhere that pops up a keypad instead so that users just use the mouse to click the randomised keypad instead of the keyboard and the puter then inputs into the field.

My employee put a password on outlook. Now that she is gone how do we access outlook for her replacement and is there a way as an employer to stop them from putting passwords?
