Design Professional-Looking Facebook Pages the Easy Way

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 5:54 am

Most Facebook pages for business look rather generic. There is normally a company logo, a few extra pictures, then a long list of wall posts. To stand out among the thousands of business Facebook pages, many companies hire marketing teams to create unique layouts for their Facebook pages.

But, for small businesses with small budgets, a free option from Pagemodo can create professional-looking pages with the same ease Weebly allows for Web site designers.

Click the green Get Started button, located on the left side of the screen.

Next, click the Connect with Facebook button and enter your Facebook login information. Click Allow if asked to give Pagemodo access to your Facebook account.

A page-building interface will appear. Choose a layout from the options on the left, then click the Continue button below the layout choices.

A list of numbered steps appear for customizing your page. Step through the one-by-one. Each step has a label that appears in the preview screen on the right. The steps start with uploading your favorite photographs, then adding headlines and descriptions. Everything is customizable—even the background colors.

When you are done adding pictures and text to your Facebook page, the last step is to choose a subscription option. The first option on the list is free, and includes one page with a footer that states the page was made with Pagemodo.

For most small businesses this is a fine option, but for those who want to lose the footer and have a couple extra pages, there is a $9 per month option. Of course, prices climb from there.

Once you decide on a subscription, click the green install button to create your page for everyone to see.

Your page is ready instantly, and added among the other tabs on Facebook (at the top near the Profile tab). Pagemodo’s service is very user-friendly, even for the least tech-savvy. The results look professional.

Our only real complaint is the lack of options for the layouts. The options available are nice, but we are unconvinced they will work for every purpose. But, considering the free price tag, limited choice is probably to be expected.

Clever web design idea, but 2 attempts to publish failed with the error message: “The developer of this application does not currently allow it to be added”. The solution at http://getsatisfaction.com/pagemodo/topics/how_to_fix_the_creator_of_this_application_does_not_currently_allow_it_to_be_added does not solve the problem. Definitely a quirky beta version!

Finally I receive this information: We are sorry, but the Pagebuilder can only be used to create custom tabs for Facebook Pages (With the ‘Like’ button).
Because of a facebook limitation it can not be used for Groups, Personal profiles, or Community pages.
To create a Facebook Page, please visit http://www.Facebook.com/pages.
    Thank you, http://www.PageModo.com
