Convert long text into a short URL using TinyPaste

If you use Twitter a lot, you also probably use a URL shortening service like TinyURL quite a bit also. Since Twitter only allows you to send 140 characters in a single message, TinyURL converts really long URLs into short ones.
This is quite a handy service not only for Twitter, but also for Instant Messaging programs and even sending links via email. Anyway, I just prefer clean and short URLs to long and ugly ones.
TinyPaste is a service that is very similar to TinyURL, but instead of making links shorter, it converts long pieces of text into a short URL. This is really useful if you have a Word document or a long text document and you want to send only a few paragraphs to someone via email or IM or Twitter.
Instead of sending multiple messages and having to break the text up into smaller pieces, you can convert the text into a single URL and send the URL.
To use the service, just copy and paste your text from anywhere into the text box on the TinyPaste home page.
Click on Submit and your text will be added to a database and given a permanent URL that you can now send to anyone. The URL for the text I pasted above is:
When you visit the link, you will see all of the text (even with the bullet points) and three buttons across the top.
The first button will copy all of the text into your clipboard so you can paste it into a word processing program or wherever you like. The second button will display the text in full-screen mode and the third button will allow you to download the text as a .TXT file to save on your computer.
The cool thing is that it converts the text to Unicode format, so it can also handle text from other languages like Japanese or Chinese. It would be nice if they had some more options, such as the ability to add a password or encrypt the text, but that may come in a future version.
For Twitter users, check out my previous post on Twitter tools and Twitter search. Enjoy!

I’ve been looking for something like this for months! Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic application to help link sources of information from one site to another, especially when the URL is very long!
