Chinswing – Online message board to share, discuss and debate via voice messages

Chinswing is a Web 2.0 site that is trying something very unique to attract people: ask questions, join discussions, or debate topics with others by recording voice messages instead of simply typing text. Everyone has been to the usual forum before, where you can post a question or write your opinion on a topic. They have been around for a long time and are still very useful for the most part.

However, not only are people able to express themselves better by speaking, but speaking allows for more details that would take to long to write or type. Let’s say someone posts a question about relationships and if you’ve just broken up with your girlfriend, well using Chinswing, it would be a lot easier to simply talk about the issue for as long as you want rather than tediously typing details.
With Chinswing, you can share your personal ideas or passions, debate hot topics, or simply ask questions that you might have. It’s basically a combination of podcasting, text forums, and live voice chat that makes Chinswing very unique.
There are basically two types of pages that make up the meat of Chinswing, the channel pages and the discussion pages. Channel pages list all discussions that relate to a specific topics, such as Movies or Small Business or Gardening, etc. Each channel page has keywords at the top that you can use to narrow down the list. You can also find the most interesting discussions by sorting by Longest, Most Messages, Newest, etc. Also, discussions can be set for certain regions or countries also.

The Discussion pages show a visual representation of the messages currently in the audio discussion. You can navigate through the messages using the slider bar at the bottom and listen to the discussion by clicking on each message. You can subscribe to the discussion via RSS or iTunes for convenience or to be notified of follow-up messages. You can also record your own message and add it to the discussion here.

In order to record all you need is a microphone and Java installed. Most computers already have Java installed, but if not, Chinswing will install it for you. In order to hear the discussions you need to have the latest version of the Flash player installed.
I’m not sure how popular this will become, but it’s definitely more fun to listen to people than to just read text! Hopefully, many people join and it’ll make for a much more interesting site, kind of like YouTube, etc but for voice not video. Give it a shot!
