Adobe Photshop Express (BETA)- Free online image editing
Posted on April 2, 2008 at 5:45 am
Have you ever wanted to use Adobe Photoshop, but did not want to pay the price for it? Well, now you have the chance to test out an express version of this miraculous software online. Instead of having to shell out hundreds of dollars for it, try Adobe Photoshop Express first.
It will allow you to share some of your best digital photos with the world and do a little editing at the same time. Although this BETA version is not filled with all of the traditional Adobe Photoshop tools, it still has potential.

Adobe Photoshop Express has a beautifully robust interface that will give you access to some great photo sharing opportunities. Uploading your chosen photos can be done quickly and easily. Creating special albums to categorize your photos is also an easy task. You’ll have the option of making your newly created albums public or private.
The storage is free right now, but it is limited to 2 GB. Don’t expect to place every single photo you own in this online storage system. Sending email links to your albums is an awesome way of getting friends and family members to visit them. Users can create a free customized URL for others to visit.

Editing digital photos with Adobe Photoshop Express can be done by adjusting color, sharpness, and exposure. One of my favorite features of this application is that I can turn my most boring photos into detailed rich images full of special effects.
Another useful feature that many digital photographers will enjoy is the snapshot history of their most recent edits. Considering that this application is tremendously flash based, it works reasonably fast. I only noticed a few slow loadings, but they did not prevent me from working comfortably with this application.

Adobe Photoshop Express conveniently lets its users add images from Facebook, Photobucket, and Picasa. Signing into these other sites via Adobe Photoshop Express can be done by clicking the log in link. Although this is an extremely useful tool, it does have a few issues. If you open and then edit a photo from Facebook, it sends it back as an additional photo. It would really be more helpful if the photos were sent back as edited ones instead.

There are a few limitations and bugs in the BETA version of Adobe Photoshop Express, but my overall impression of it is a positive one. Being able to perform some quick edits on my photos and even access some from other sites is definitely a positive benefit.
After using this application, I can seriously say that budding digital photographers will have fun using it. The best part of all is that it is currently free to use and not a hard application to figure out. Adobe Photoshop Express is worth a try for anyone that is curious.

Though I am hardcore Google fan, I did try this slick feature of Adobe’s. It does not feature as many features as Picasa in terms of sharing and exposing links. Though Adobe had a lot of hyped editing tools on the left pane, I did not feel them much useful. Or let me put it this way, I probably could not harness those editing tools. And to top this, the application is very slow compared to other tools like Picasa or Flickr. The look and feel are good though, I should say. Well, I prefer to stick with Picasa. As always, Google’s applications are always thinstalled, they do aptly what they are designed for, the reason why I am a Google fan.
Thanks for giving it a try. Hopefully, all of the kinks will be worked out of Adobe Photoshop Express.
