Search any website or program in Windows

Have you ever stopped and wondered what the Internet would be like if we didn’t have search engines? Complete chaos and thousands of sites going completely undiscovered. Searching, in effect, decides what your web experience is going to be like.

So isn’t it kind of weird that every time you need to fish something out of the ocean that is the Internet, you need to start up your web browser and head over to your favorite search engine just to do said fishing? Fear no longer, for Transfz is here.

No, its not pronounced trans fuzzz…. its actually transfuse. Transfz puts a search bar practically anywhere you’d care to have one.

We’re going to be walking through some of the most important features, but first you need to download and set it up. It can be downloaded here.

Possibly its most important, and its most useful feature is the searchbox. To call up the searchbox, all you have to do is make sure Transfz is running and hit Alt+D and you’ll be looking at this:

Now isn’t that just nifty? Not only does it pop up anywhere, it also allows you to choose where you want to look for it! Your choices range from good old Google to YouTube to CNN.com.

Another feature you should know about is something called the Global Menu. You can call up the Global menu by hitting Ctrl+D.

A quick glance at the Global Menu makes it quite clear that the searchbox is in fact a small part of the Global Menu that’s been separated for easy access. The Global menu is where you access all the other features.

Naturally you can perform a search from the Global Menu. All you have to do is select a word and invoke the Global Menu. From there you choose one of the search engines and Transfz will start off a search for the selected word in the browser you have chosen as your default.

It also features an extended clipboard. it remembers up to the last 30 items you have copied, and displays them so you can choose what to paste. Of course, you can reduce the number of items Transfz remembers, so that the Global Menu takes up lesser screen space.

Finally, the Text manipulation options. You can just select any text. invoke the Global Menu and mouse over to the “Text” field in the Global Menu to get these options:

They’re all pretty self explanatory, but all really useful shortcuts to have lying around.

Transfz is possible one of the best time-saving applications I’ve come across. Not because it does something completely brand new, but because it tightly integrates some really useful and time-saving tools into one tiny utility. Definitely, worth a download. Highly recommended.
