Windows XP Tips – How to set your folder views to be consistent

Has it ever bothered you that some folders you browse in Windows Explorer show your files as a list and sometimes as icons? Or maybe you just want to see your files with all the details in every folder! Well it can be very frustrating if you don’t know how to change this option and most people end up resorting to simlpy going to the View menu and choosing either Tiles, Icons, List or Details manually!

Well, you don’t have to keep changing it manually anymore! Here’s how to set the view you want for all of your folders!
1. Open Windows Explorer by clicking on My Computer.
2. Click on the View menu and choose the format that you would like for the rest of your folders.

3. Next go to Tools and then Folder Options.

4. Click on the View tab and click the “Apply to All Folders” button. Now all of your folders will take the current view and use that.

Click OK and try browsing through some of the other folders! Your view (list, icons, details, etc) should now be the default for everything!
