Upload, sync your OpenOffice and Microsoft Office Documents with Google Docs

Wish you could have your Microsoft Office documents synced up with Google Docs? If you use Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, or Powerpoint or OpenOffice as your productivity suite, you probably have run into an occasion where you had to make a presentation on the road or access an important Excel spreadsheet while at another location.
If you forgot to put it on your USB stick or burn it onto a cd, you’re pretty much done! Even if you can access your corporate or home network via VPN, what if the location you are currently at blocks some of the firewall ports that need to be open in order for you to connect? In these cases, it would be really useful to have your Office documents online, accessible via an online office suite like Google Docs.
Luckily, there are two cool tools out there that you can use to sync up your Microsoft Office and OpenOffice documents with Google Docs automatically! You don’t even have to manually upload documents when they are updated, the software will detect the changes and upload them to Google Docs for you, thereby always having a recent copy of ALL your documents, spreadsheets and presentations instantly available.
Sync All Your Microsoft Office Documents with Google Docs Using DocSyncer
DocSyncer is a nitfy little free application that will automatically upload all Word, Excel and PowerPoint files to Google Docs. It monitors the files locally for changes and will auto upload them to Google Docs if there are any changes.
DocSyncer is in beta at this point, however, I entered my email address and put in a password and was able to access successfully register on the site, which means they are allowing more people to join the beta! Go ahead and register as quickly as you can! Once logged in, you’ll have to download the program and can start syncing your docs!
Sync All Your OpenOffice Documents with Google Docs Using OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs
If you’re using OpenOffice, there is a really cool extension you can install that will allow you to sync all of your OpenOffice documents with Google Docs. Though the name is long and funny, the extension is more user friendly.
You can use OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs to import and export documents to Google Docs from OpenOffice, including OpenDocument Text (.odt), StarOffice (.sxw), Microsoft Word (.doc, but not MS XML), Rich Text (.rtf), OpenDocument Spreadsheet (.ods), Microsoft Excel (.xls), Comma Separated Value (.csv), and Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pps).
As you can tell, this extension can also sync up Microsoft Office documents also. Either way, using one of these programs will help you not only access your documents from anywhere, but will also serve as a way to backup all essential Office documents. Personally, I’ve never used Google Docs because I just have everything already in Word, Excel and Powerpoint and it would be a pain to manually import each one.

Did Docsyncer go away? The download link doesn’t appear to be working.
