Comments on: Uninstall Norton 360, Antivirus, SystemWorks, etc using Norton Removal Tool

I uninstalled Norton Internet Security to correct a bunch of startup errors, and now I can not route onto to internet, and renewing my IP fails. All is well with my other computer using the router & cable connection.

@Mai Rah: having the same problem: after using the removal tool first suddenly smpsys.exe went missing, now i’ve learned how to switch it off using msconfig, but still – a) regularly browser claims there is no internet, b) when going on another profile at this laptop, suddenly cannot get back to main profile, claims I’ve no permission to log off or restart…. Were you able to solve yr issue? if yes, How?? THNX, Martin

Norton products are awful now compared to the 90′s. I used to love Norton, but now it sucks. The 360 and Endpoint are just bloated bomb shells for your computer, never install them.

I used the Norton Removal Tool and it worked fine but after it restared I wasn’t able not able to access the internet. I’m not sure if it is directly related to me removing norton but it was working fine prior to the removal. Any suggestions, tips, or advice to get it working again?

You have to run the recovery or you can try to logon like administrator that will work

@Arga – Are you talking about Symantec Endpoint protection? I actually just wrote up a post on how to uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection even if it has a password.

Nice post there. I was just wondering if you know any workaround for uninstalling password protected symantec antivirus program. You see, I bought a used laptop from a company with symantec antivirus enterprise software already installed. Now, I want to remove the antivirus but everytime I try to do so, it asks for a password to remove itself. I have no way of contacting the company no more, so asking for the password is out of the question. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
