Uninstall Norton 360, Antivirus, SystemWorks, etc using Norton Removal Tool

If you have ever used any of the Norton security products, like Norton 360, Norton SystemWorks, Norton Internet Security, or Norton Antivirus, you probably have run into problems trying to uninstall the software.
Firstly, I used to use Norton all the time back in the days, but lately the products have started to suck. Not really sure why, but it’s just not the product it used to be. Internet Security is more annoying than helpful and AntiViurs doesn’t find half the viruses it should.
Anyway, I’ve tried to uninstall several Norton products using Add/Remove programs and it didn’t work sometimes. In this type of situation, you are basically going to be stuck with random program files on your hard drive and unnecessary registry settings.
Norton Removal Tool is a nifty program that you can use to specifically remove Norton products. The nice thing about such a program is that it knows all the file locations and registry settings for many of the Norton products.

The program will run and remove any Norton product that it detects, including
- Norton AntiVirus 2003 to 2009
- Norton Ghost 10, 12, & 14
- Norton Internet Security 2003 to 2009
- Norton SystemWorks 2003 to 2009
- Norton 360 1.0 to 3.0
Note that once you start running the program, there is no stopping it! It will detect all the Norton products, stop all the Norton services, delete all the files, remove all registry keys, delete all temp files, etc.
I decided to write about this software because it helped me clean out several old installations of Norton that would simply not go away using Add/Remove programs. It’s a very good idea to remove these types of programs as it will speed up your computer.
If you’re still having issues uninstalling Norton from your computer, post a comment and I will try to help you out! Enjoy!

Very useful apps !! Thanks
Nice post there. I was just wondering if you know any workaround for uninstalling password protected symantec antivirus program. You see, I bought a used laptop from a company with symantec antivirus enterprise software already installed. Now, I want to remove the antivirus but everytime I try to do so, it asks for a password to remove itself. I have no way of contacting the company no more, so asking for the password is out of the question. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
@Arga – Are you talking about Symantec Endpoint protection? I actually just wrote up a post on how to uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection even if it has a password.

Useful program. Thanks !
@akishore: Hmm. I’m not sure that’s the same app on my laptop, but I’ll sure try the workaround. Thanks for your help!
You have to run the recovery or you can try to logon like administrator that will work
I used the Norton Removal Tool and it worked fine but after it restared I wasn’t able not able to access the internet. I’m not sure if it is directly related to me removing norton but it was working fine prior to the removal. Any suggestions, tips, or advice to get it working again?
