I also take a lot of screen shots, but in most cases I do not need to edit them, so I use a smaller and simpler tool, called SnapaShot. If you have Vista or Win 7, you'll be able to take and save shots, using only 2 buttons. But how can you get a drop-down to stay active? Once you click anywhere else on the screen it goes away.
