I did not understand what paging file is in your explanation. I wanted to know what was the best way to upgrade my computer if it doesn't have enough RAM? I do not believe my question was answered in these responses. Thank you.

Put an SSD as your boot drive on sata 0 or 1, move your pagefile to another HDD, just that moved me from WEI 5.5 to 7.5, once a week, run Intel's Optimizer.

I agree. Great information! I have a question, though. Is the formula mentioned in this article valid for SSD's (Solid State Drive) as well?

I have the Intel X25-M 80GB and the speeds are simply phenomenal. I have 3GB of RAM and a secondary hard drive with 320GB capacity but it's slow at 5,400rpm.

I've read a lot of things regarding the paging file on SSD's, including even advice that suggested eliminating it altogether. Some applications won't work without a paging file, so that seems a little radical to me. However, being that the nature of an SSD basically *is* memory (NAND flash memory to be exact), should I still put the paging file on my 2nd (hard) drive, or am I better off leaving it on the SSD, which is the primary drive and has only one partition?

That said, I can easily create a 2nd partition for the purpose of maintaining the paging file in an ideal way. However, before I do anything with this, I just wanted to get some input as to what extent, if any, these instructions apply to SSD's, as well, or if they apply mainly to regular hard drives.

Thanks a bunch! :)

Thank you very much! I bought a new computer and didn't think I could make it any faster, but after moving the page file to a different hard drive altogether, Windows is definitely running smoother. Great tips!

I originally had 256 MB DDR and I upgraded the RAM to 512 MB (256 MB + 512 MB =768 MB). Unforunatley, I get virtual memory error messages when I try to do stuff while browsing online. I have this problem when I have a lot of websites open like Facebook, etc. How can I get rid of these virtual memory errors?

Greetings and thank you for your educational post. You've stated that it's ideal if the paging file can be placed in it's own partition with no other data. How is this to be done; say if I want to create such a partition in drive D? And yes, I HAVE followed no 13 above. Would appreciate your guidance, thanks.
