¿Seguridad o estupidez?

Tengo un amigo, nos dejo llamar a este amigo Fred, ahora Fred soy un experto de la PC, él compro todos los compartimientos, visito todos los Web site derechos, y en su tiempo disponible, cuando él no está realizando su comercio normal como decorador interior, paso cada minuto que se ocupa vanamente con su PC, o las PC que hablan con sus otros amigos expertos.
Hice estallar alrededor para visitar a Fred hace algunos días, y él comenzó a decirme que sobre la PC nueva que él iba a construir la semana próxima, ésta me sorprendiera, pues él había construido solamente un nuevo algunos meses previamente. ¿Le pregunté porqué él necesitó otra PC nueva? Él me dijo que el viejo fuera demasiado lento. Encontré este sorprender, como Fred compra siempre las piezas más costosas del alto rendimiento disponibles en el mercado, él aumento cada vez que se introduce un nuevo modelo, y paso generalmente una fortuna pequeña en sus juguetes.
Ofrecí hechar una ojeada la PC de Fred para él, para ver si podría descubrir porqué él pensó era tan lenta, Fred mirado me de la manera Fred cuando él piensa estoy hablando fuera de mi extremo posterior, aunque Fred sabe pasé mi vida entera en ÉL, incluyendo una década en ayuda corporativa de la PC, él no pienso realmente que sé cualquier cosa, pues no compro todos los compartimientos, y no visito todos los Web site derechos.
Fred me sentó abajo en su PC, todavía dándome que “sí a la derecha” mirada. Qué encontré era algo absolutamente impactante, instalé y el operario en su PC era una habitación llena de la seguridad del Internet (Norton), ningún problema con eso, pero él también tenía un funcionamiento separado del uso del contra-virus (AVG), junto con el defensor de Microsoft, y funcionaba el diario Anuncio-Enterado, él también hizo el cortafuego de Windows encender (con.). Para sumar tan cosas para arriba que él tenía:
Contra-Virus x 2
Cortafuego x 2
Anti-Malware x 4
Esto es justo una situación ridícula, y comía recursos de sistema en una tarifa increíble. Cuando pregunté a Fred porqué él tenía tan muchos usos de la seguridad el funcionar, él acaba de darme otra de esas miradas y dicho debo saber que la seguridad de la PC era una edición grande actualmente. Acabo de dar para arriba en el extremo, después de todo, Fred es el experto, él debe ser mientras que él compra todos los compartimientos y visita todos los Web site derechos.
Ocurre a mí que la gente apenas no entiende qué se requiere para asegurar sistemas a un nivel aceptable. Voy tan a cubrir los tres fundamentos abajo.
¿Cortafuego - allí es un gran cortafuego libre producto hacia fuera allí, discutible el mejor disponible, y conjetura cuál? You already have it installed, that’s right, the standard Windows Firewall is excellent, I cannot see any reason why anybody should feel they need to replace it. Ok it doesn’t have a pretty front end, it doesn’t bother you with popup windows telling you it’s doing it’s job every two minutes, it just works.
Anti-Virus - I used to be a big AVG Free fan, but the recent changes to the application have made me drop it, it is just getting too fat. I have switched to Avast! now, as it is a nice thin application and does the job well.
Anti-Malware - Microsoft Defender is another excellent piece of software, I have to recommend it, I cannot see any reason to use a 3rd party application when Microsoft offer a product that is integrated into the OS.
And that is ALL you need, no expensive all-in-one package with all the bells and whistles, almost no administrative overhead, and all using a minimal amount of system resources.
I have NEVER had a virus, I don’t do anything that could cause me to become infected, as always, sensible use is the best form of security. In a similar fashion I often do not enable my firewall, as the chances of somebody choosing my IP address out of the millions on-line and then finding a security vulnerability in my OS are so remote as to almost be impossible.
Security software companies are really creaming it in with all the hype that surrounds PC security these days, they love people like Fred, who buy all the magazines and visit all the right websites, the very same magazines and sites that are receiving advertising revenue from the security software developers. Figure the rest out for yourselves.

I couldn’t agree more! When someone tells me their PC is slow, I first ask if they remember paying for security software. If they say they don’t know, I delete ALL security bloat, put on AVG 8, and make sure windows defender and firewall are running.
Usually this makes a big difference and is a good start.

Oh my god, I used to know such a “Fred” guy myself - and he drove me up the wall with his stupidity. In the end I always laughed hen he had a virus or trojan yet again, or when he wasn’t able to actually work on his computer because the bloody thing was busy crashing or doing god-knows-what.
Some people just can’t be helped.
