Thanks for the much needed information. This site is useful(minus a couple spelling errors) I’m letting my friends know, so they too can remove their name from sites.

I wish you would post for a way for people who demand not to remove your information. I have a college e-mail address and I hate this one website that I asked for year in and out to remove my info, they just keep telling me they won’t.
Brutal jerks.

Thanks for the great article and the comments from all the participants. I was looking for reputation firm that will help me. After reading some comments I decided to move forward with zallas but seems that their website is not working at this point…. So following the advice from Michael and Dennis I contacted repmanagementfirm.com They are very good and professional so far. I will let you know my final verdict as soon as the job is done.

Awesome tips and companies. I used to have online fraud issues twice in the past. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough budgets to hire one of the above companies. However i found another great one. It may help, but it won’t get rid of the countless crap online about you. How do you stop anyone from using your name when they post something? I have a very unique first and last name.

1. Cease using your real name online
2. Sign up for ever FREE online Social network like Plato, etc., there is a list if you google “free social networks”
If ou sign up to them all with your real name but leave all the personal information off or incorrect, it will not remove all the crap on google searches about you but it will certainly move them all to the 2nd or 3rd pages. Many people don’t want to look beyond the 3rd page.
3. This is an invasion of privacy, I don’t think names should be googled and anything and everything shows up.

I was a victim of an online smear campaign because I dare speak out against an adoption agency that was bringing children into the USA under false pretenses. But she has a small fan club of crazies that think she is “God” because after all she brought or bought them their child. They smeared me on ever site they could think of and tried to sue for defamation.

Just give cleanmy.name a shot – my name is pretty unique, so it worked for me just fine…hid most of the offending material on Google.

The comments on this post were really helpful! I’ve had some problems because of content related to my name showing up on Google, but I now feel better knowing there are several companies that people have had good experiences with removing their names from search engines.

I would recommend Google Name Cleaner by Zallas Technologies. I’m glad I have no more problems with Google thanks to them. They work fast and the money I paid was well spent.

I’d fight fire with fire. I am not saying you need to throw some flak at the offending party, but you should take the removal of your bad reputation on the net in your own hands. So either you park your ass on the net and write your own blog, if you’re not doing this already, or you hire people to do it for you. I hired Zallas Technologies and they blasted those false info about me to kingdom come.

By proxy, google has been my enemy for a long time. Three months ago, I broke my leg and couldn’t go to work. So I spent my downtime productively by contacting google about the crazy things my mother-in-law was blabbing about me. She got me beat, because she’s retired and has taken ripping me a new one online as a hobby. I wrote a blog to counter her stupid rants, but my leg healed in a months’ time, so I couldn’t blog anymore.

To cut my whiny story short, I checked out all those links. I went with http://www.reputec.com/ based on your recommendation. I like their work, so far.
