I have downloaded Mailplane for a 30-day trial. It seems quite easy to use. But it does take a while (a few seconds) for the email account to switch from one to the other. Since I use only two main gmail accounts simultaneously, I believe if I keep Mailplane as a second browser (in addition to Safari on my Mac) I would simply keep one Gmail account open on one browser and a different Gmail account open on the other browser.

In that case I would be able to have two opened Gmail accounts in front of me rather than having to switch back and forth between the two. I am hoping to find a free and reliable second browser to download on my Mac so I don’t have to pay for Mailplane. Well, that is to say if I don’t get too attached to its other functions during the 30-day trial period. My Apple Support Technical support Jason recommended both options to me. They are very helpful indeed.

Thanks for the great post! I have several Google/Gmail accounts due to my business and it’s a royal pain having to log in and out or to use 3 different browsers. I personally like the Firefox add-ons that let you work with multiple Gmail accounts.

A better way is Multifox Addon For Firefox 3.5 and 3.6. This addon lets you log into hundreds of accounts on the same server at-one-time. I tested it at Google in Firefox 3.6b4 and it works great. You just click on File > New Identity Profile and it will open a new window that you can log into another account with. Works great for dragging info from one account to another or comparing page content.

Just one Qeustion: The FireFox Add-on it doesn’t seem that it allows having tabs open for each of ones Gmail accounts, or what?

I think cookipie is really great. Though with this extension, you can’t login into same type of google accounts at once (for ex. you can’t login in two gmail accounts or two orkut accounts at once). What it does is :It lets you login a gmail account with one id and simultaneously login to orkut account with another id. This sounds more logical.
Till now, I was using multiple browsers for this.
