i saved a half finished download in an internet cafe. they wipe their comps each night. is it possible to resume the dl in any way? i tried dropping the file in utorrent but that didn’t work. i even found the file i was downloading from and tried setting it’s location to the half finished file. it wouldn’t take it. pls help

Thanks a ton! Very HELPFUL!
My case was a bit different though. I was downloading few files to my external HDD while Xp crashed. Later when I restarted Xp and tried to resume the download, uTorrent could not find the location because previously when I was downloading I had my pen drive attached to my comp. but after I removed the pen drive the external HDD drives names were changed since I had removed my pen drive, I thought fixing the pen drive would fix the problem but after that the names were still jumbled so I needed to change the download path for those specific torrent.
After viewing your article I changed the path location and made uTorrent to resume the download. It took quite some time to check them though, but was very helpful since we don’t need to start the download all over again!

Even faster is to cut and paste the file(s) inside the window that pops up when you select Set Download Location. Although I wish uTorrent had the option to “append label to file path” after torrent has finished, that would save me from doing this every time I want to keep seeding

Hi,
The file I moved was almost finished downloading, 98%, then I stop, change the donload location to my external HD, move the half finished folder by copy the folder and paste it to the Ex-HD then start the download again, but it does not start from 98% somehow it restarted downloading…..:(

Its a good tip..but a more direct approach & much simpler would be to stop first the torrent file, (u must first select the “Show detailed info” – F5),then right click directly on file & select “Relocate”.
