I use webalertnow.com to monitor all of my client websites. They have real-time stats and can send notify messages to more then one email/text addresses. For $12 a year you can't go wrong. Plus I don't get adds and spam... watch out for the free one's.

I’ve been trying to find some good website monitoring services myself. I wonder if there’s something out there which is ideal for a dedicated server. At least in the case of the server I manage, I have found that DDOS attacks are simply overloading my apache and causing it to crash.

I set up a cronjob to reset my apache every 59 minutes, but that turned out to be insufficient. I recently upped things to reset every 10 minutes, and I'm going to find an aggressive monitoring service to check the site even more frequently.
