I have a lap-top (LT) named Sally-LT and a desktop (DT) named Joe-PC. I want to be able to

1: access the LT C: drive as L: from the DT: and,

2: access the DT C: drive as R: from the LT.

All explanations assume I know what the SERVER and SHARE means.

When I get to \\Joe-PC\ I do not know if I should enter \\Joe-PC\C:\ or skip the C:. All I get is a suggested spelling error message.

I would reaelly appreciaate a simple-level explanation. Thanks

How can you map a drive using a batch file? I see the command prompt "net use" code, but how do you create a batch file for example? Also, how can I map a drive for all users?

Hi. I have the opposite problem. My Windows XP (SP3) keeps automatically generating a mapped network drives until it uses up the available drive letters. I keep disconnecting them and next time I look they're all back again all mapped to the same folder on another computer on our network.

Any ideas from anyone on whats going on and how to stop this ?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm having an issue connecting from my vista machine to the server. My other xp machine is just fine.
When I use the command prompt you suggested, I can login just fine, but from vista, I get this error:

system error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found

What should I do? Thank you!

When mapping in Sage Peachtree an additional step is required ( as far as I know), however I cannot remember how to do it. What is involved in mapping Peachtree with Win XP as server & Vista as workstation?

Thanks for the info. I've created a login script that maps network drives for our company, but I get an error on some computers if one of the drive letters is already taken.

At that point, the script gives and error and the rest of the drives are not mapped. I want to modify the script so that it checks first to see if a drive is already mapped with that letter and if so, skips it. How can I do that?
