How to make Windows XP look like Mac OS X
Posted on December 29, 2007 at 7:13 am
I’m not really sure why one would need this, but if you’re looking for a way to get your Windows PC to look like Mac OS X, then there’s a free application that can help you do it! Maybe you got a Windows PC as a gift, but really wanted a Mac! Or maybe you like Windows, but think the Mac interface looks really cool!
Whatever your reason, check out FlyakiteOSX, to transform the Windows look to Mac OS X style. Basically it’s a transformation pack, kind of like Vista Transformation Pack, which makes Windows XP look like Windows Vista. It’s free and actually works fairly well! And don’t worry, if you don’t like the Mac interface, you can always uninstall it!
FlyakiteOSX installs on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 (only a crazy administrator would install it on this), and Windows Media Center. The software does not support 64-bit versions of Windows.
Installing FlyakitOSX
Installation is easy and safe. If you’re worried that the transformation pack could make your system unstable, you are given the option to create a restore point. Also, FlyakiteOSX supports up to 42 languages so it will work if you have an International version of Windows.
You’ll be given the option to install other components like extras, registry tweaks, etc. Though it takes up more space, go ahead and choose all of the options so that you get the full experience.
RK Launcher adds a visually pleasing bar at the side of the screen that is used to quickly launch shortcuts. ObjectDock lets you organize your short-cuts and running tasks onto an extremely customizable dock that sits on your desktop. Other extras include WinRoll, iColorFolder and Y’z Shadow. It is recommended to choose RK Launcher and all three of the above.
Once you restart your computer, you’ll see the new theme on your desktop and while loading. You can customize FlyakiteOSX by going to Start Menu > All Programs > FlyakiteOSX > FlyakiteOSX Settings. Current version allows you turn or of turn off the settings such as OS X Cursors, Iceman Sounds, Flurry Screensaver, Panther Visual Style, Tiger Visual Style, ObjectDock, RKLauncher, Y’z Shadow, WinRoll.
Here’s some cool screenshots of how everything looks once it’s installed and running.

Overall, it’s a pretty neat looking theme for Windows XP, so if you’re looking to change the Windows theme, try out FlyakiteOSX. Not that the functionality remains the same, your computer suddenly does not become a Mac. You can still right-click on things and do all of the normal Windows functions, it just looks like a Mac! Enjoy!
