I am getting the same error message but my cd won't even open to put in the cd in to try any of your suggestions. I can manually open it with a paper clip and put the cd in but it isn't working. Anyone?

so i had the BSOD with it saying “Page fault in nonpaged area”. the problem was the ntfs.sys file. i tried EVERYTHING! i ran all the features under F5. i did a HDD test (passed), a RAM test (passed), DOS CD and USB, recovery from multiple windows discs...nada :( it would crash each time i tried.

this is how i fixed my problem. if it doesnt work for you, its your problem.

i created a boot cd called "the ulimate boot cd for windows", or UBCD4Win. here's the download link:

ubcd4win.com/downloads.htm

burnt the iso onto a CD and ran it. it took a few tries but it finally worked. i ran xplorer² and it let me access to the C: drive. i rename ntfs.sys to ntfs.old. i then copied the ntfs.sys file from the boot CD and pasted it into my C drive. if your not sure where, paste it here:

[c:\windows\system32\drivers]

rebooted the computer and VOILA! 100% working :)

I was having this problem and the drive would blue-screen any computer I hooked it to. None of the other fixes I researched worked for me. I realize this fix won't be available to everyone, but here was my solution: my drive is a SATA drive (and therefore hot swappable) so what I did was install the OS (Vista) on another hard drive that was the same size as the drive with the corrupt file. Then I booted to the Vista CD and chose the repair option, then went to command prompt. I then hot-swapped the drives and guess what, I could read the drive! From that point I imagine one could extract the new ntfs.sys file from the cd. In my case, the entire System32 directory was corrupt. Luckily I was only concerned with doing a data copy so I just renamed the directory. After that I could see the files while in Windows and thus copy what I needed off the drive.

I format my laptop's hard disk (Win XP SP2) and I try to reinstall, but it's not working. It's showing check for virus on your computer, remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers, run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive corruption, etc.

Technical information is showing *** STOP: 0X0000007B, (0XF7A4524, 0X0000034, 0X0000000, 0X0000000).

Hi.

Trying to do the reparation installation. I didn't got the same screen as you, because I have two hard drives (I got windows XP on the C: drive). I don't know what to choose between partitions and that stuff.

OMG...I restarted my computer and got that system32 error, I was freaking out!!! Called Dell Customer Support, they were no help (would have cost me $60). Went to microsoft, but the cause for my error were not the same. I found this site and was so happy to see that this was someone who had experienced this! Tried the first two fixes and they did not work. Tried the third and it worked!!!! I does seem like you are installing new xp but when my computer finally booted up everything seemed to be there. Only has an error with photo gallery.
Thank you so much for your help!
