Hello, thanks for information about truecrypt. It is really helpfull but I have one question: I ussualy don’t turn off my laptop, I just close it after finish my job and turn laptop into standby mode. In that way my data aren’t save, cause Truecrypt ask for password only at turning on. here some way to set truecrypt to ask for password in every hour for example?. Sorry for my crappy english :/

Nate: the last thing i trust is Bitlocker of microsoft
just use (indeed) truecrypt… its free and opensource and very advanced.. imo the best disk encryption there is atm…

Personally, I don’t think you have to use any third party program to encrypt your hard disk. Just use Bitlocker! It’s built right into Windows Vista and 7. Here is an article on it:

why store your sensative files on your computer?
use http://www.swissdisk.com it will encrypt the files and then you can access them from any computer anywhere you have internet access and best of all you can try it FREE

And who says it doesnt have a backdoor … Never use a payed encryption tool, and online is imo even worse…
Always use an opensource encryption tool when possible, since you have access to the code, you can also be sure it has no backdoor and thereby it is safe!

On my MAC, when I try to select device to locate the volume I want to encrypt, TruCrypt asks me for a password because ‘administrator privileges required”. I am the only user of my computer and I never set up any logon or administrator passwords.
