Here’s how I want to customize my Start Menu…I want to remove the top section altogether…the part that has your name and the user image. I don’t care for that at all, is there any way to get rid of it?

Some versions of XP allow an unlimted number of items on the left column of the start menu. They can all be accessed by scrolling up and down the left column of the start menu.

I am amazed at two things:

1. Some versions of XP have a set limit of the number of items that can be displayed on the left column of the start menu. The version I am using now is among these. A maximum of 19 items can be listed on the left column of the start menu. That is with small icons, and the number cannot be increased. It is annoying as hell, just like most things about windoze.

2. I cannot find anywhere a description of how to alter the start menu configuration to get rid of this limit and allow scrolling on the left column of the start menu.

Can somebody help me with this?

Thanks for this info, but I was wondering if you could write an updated article on customizing the Windows 7 Start Menu.

I want to know how I can customize the search box on the Start menu? Thanks!
