How to connect your Laptop/PC/Computer to your TV Como conectar seu laptop / PC / Computador à sua TV

I'm writing this post on how to connect your PC or computer to a TV because last week I returned from a trip in India and wanted to show all of my pictures and videos to my family from my laptop onto our HDTV, but unfortunately I did not have the correct cords and so after fumbling around for 30 minutes trying to connect my computer to the TV, I had to tell everyone that they would have to wait till the next weekend! Pretty annoying considering the times we live in, it should be quite easy to connect the two together! So here's a quick walk-through of all the methods that I know (if you know any more, please comment) to connect a laptop or PC to your TV: Então aqui vai uma rápida caminhada, através de todos os métodos que eu sei (se souber mais, por favor, comente) para ligar um laptop ou PC para sua TV:

1. S-Video – This is probably the most common method out there currently because an S-Video cable is cheap as heck and just about every TV under the sun has a S-Video port. 1.    tried using a vga cord connected to laptop and hdtv. tentei usar um cabo VGA ligado ao laptop e HDTV. tuned tv to pc mode but when laptop is switched on the screen just remains black as well as the tv screen..The only thing that works is that i can use the cursor on the laptop and it shows up on the hdtv but all remains black…what can i do..please,,,any suggestions….thank you sintonizado tv para o modo PC, mas quando o laptop é ligado, a tela simplesmente fica preta, assim como a tela da TV ..    Hi Peter, Oi Pedro,

   You could try to do a few things for starters: go ahead and change the resolution on your laptop to something lower, maybe 800×600, sometimes that causes the problem.    Dude, the easiest and by far the best way I have seen is to set the advance timings on a pc just right and use a vga to scart cable (Maybe with audio of you don't have the pc hooked up to an audio system of some sort).    I was literally trying to figure this out jsut a few hours ago at Circuit City, for my friend who just got a HD tv for his dorm.     I have just purchased the cables to connect my laptop to my TV. Eu acabei de comprar os cabos para ligar o meu laptop para minha TV. But guess what, my laptop DOESN'T have the S Video port!     I have a Tevion 32″ LCD TV, my computer has 3 outputs, 1xVGA, 1xDVI, 1xS-Video. Eu tenho um Tevion 32 "LCD TV, o computador tem 3 saídas, 1xVGA, 1xDVI, 1xS-Video.     The video works fine but of course I cannot get any audio since the TV does not appear to have a audio input related to the HDMI video input.     I hooked my computer to my TV using the s-video cable, then I configured my my video card, and now I can see my comp image on my TV screen..     Im kinda in the same position as Nick H. Firstly i connected by 32″ LCD HDTV to my computer via a S-Video cable. Im kinda na mesma posição como Nick H.     I used an S-Video to RCA cable to hook my computer up to my tv and it worked great for a while.     I have a Acoustic solutions LCD26805hd TV, I have bought all the correct cables( I think, one is a HDMI to DVI-D cable and the other is a audio cable, which is a Mini Jack to 2 RCA cables. I have hooked the RCA cables from my headphone jack on my laptop to the RGB input on the back of my LCD TV… still no sound. When I connect my Laptop to the LCD TV using the 16 pin VGA connector I get both the picture and sound, but the colour is all messed up. The issue I have is, the first time when I did this, the computer screen went back to normal after removing the connection to the tv but the last time I did it and disconnected it from the tv my screen on the laptop remains smaller in tv mode.     This is exactly the same problem Im encountering..especialy when I scroll through websites. Este é exatamente o mesmo problema estou encontrando .. especialy quando eu percorrer sites. It's seems to be connected with the refresh rate of the monitor. Ele parece estar relacionada com a taxa de atualização do monitor. My temporary fix is to turn off the speakers. Minha solução temporária é desligar os alto-falantes. The regular sound from the PC is fine via a digital connection….except when the TV speakers are activated. O som regular do PC é muito bem através de uma conexão digital .... Excepto quando os alto-falantes de TV são ativados. I can run games fine, play music, view DVDs…as long as that dang TV speakers are off. Eu posso executar jogos bem, tocar música, DVDs ver ... enquanto que os falantes TV dang estão desligados.

    I have laptop model HP Pavillion dv6285eu and samsung Full HD TV both have VGA port. Tenho notebook modelo HP Pavilion dv6285eu e Samsung Full HD TV ambos têm porta VGA. I connected both using VGA Cable. Liguei ambos usando cabo VGA. But after all this I could see only blank screen(back ground light of laptop)connection seems ok with VGA cable, but I couldn't see any video on TV from laptop. Mas depois de tudo isso eu pude ver apenas uma tela em branco (a luz de volta à terra de laptop) conexão parece ok com o cabo VGA, mas eu não conseguia ver algum vídeo na TV a partir do laptop. I don't know what kind of setting do I need to in Laptop. Eu não sei que tipo de configuração que eu preciso de Laptop. would you please você poderia por favor

    I have connected my laptop to my TV, the only problem i seem to be having is that the the quality on the TV is poor, and Flickers, you can see shadows behind icons, is this just from a poor quality cable! Basically, if your load up screen is showing up and then disappears once Windows starts loading, it's a resolution issue.      I had the same problem! Eu tive o mesmo problema! My fix was, if you are using windows then once you have the hookup made use F1 and F3 to toggle back and forth between PC and TV. I found that you cannot have the movie running first, just have windows desktop showing. Achei que você não pode ter a primeira corrida de filme, só tem janelas mostrando desktop.      To have audio and video at same same on tv (digital one) you just have to connect the cable vga male/vga male to your computer and to the Tv ( PC In – see details of your tv on manual specifications). Para ter áudio e vídeo ao mesmo mesmo na TV (um digital) basta conectar o cabo VGA macho / VGA macho ao computador e à TV (no PC - ver detalhes de sua TV em especificações manual).
     For the audio is the same, you need a audio cable 3,5jack/3,5jack and connect it to your computer ( on the sound green ) and to your Tv on the audio for PC next to the vga cable. Para o áudio é o mesmo, você precisa de um cabo de áudio jack 3,5 / 3,5 tomada e conectá-lo ao seu computador (no verde som) e à sua TV no áudio para PC ao lado do cabo VGA.
     Dont use the audio-in red and white because those are only for AV source (ex. a camera) Não use o áudio em vermelho e branco porque essas são apenas para fonte AV (ex. uma câmera)

     When I connect my laptop to the TV, the picture on the TV is extremely large and only shows the (enlarged) center of my laptop screen. Of course, when I want to view a program, i can only the the center portion on the TV while the picture on the laptop is normal.      hi, just would like to put this out there, but a 7 pin s-vid 2 4 pin s-vid does work…this is because when u put in the 4 pins the 3 missing ones are filled up for…so just buy urself an s-video cable (4 pin 2 4 pin and make sure ur laptop and tv hav an s-vide port)…try it oi, só gostaria de colocar isso lá fora, mas um pino 7 s-vid 2 4 pinos s-vid funciona ... isso é porque quando u colocar no 4 pinos a 3 que faltam são preenchidos por ... por isso basta comprar urself um cabo S-video (4 pinos 2 4 pinos e fazer ur laptop certo e hav tv uma porta S-Vide) experimentá-lo ...

     Your best bet to get an awesome picture quality will be VGA to HDMI cable about 1.8m max to connect your laptop to HDTV. I bought it on eBay for $8.00 (includes shipping from Hong Kong). I'd highly recomment to download divx.com on your laptop.

     I have Sony XBR6 46″ 1080p HDTV, Win XP sytem, wiht Geforce 8500 GT Video card, and DVI to HDMI cable 15ft long. I am trying to connect my my desktop to TV. The VGA cable connection to TV works and while VGA connected the VDI to HDMI to same TV connection works. but when VGA disconnected and only DVI to HDMI connection to TV the desktop keeps rebooting and does not go into windows at all..      I had the same problem but then I right clicked on my desktop and chose output to, monitor (knowing that monitor meant my tv as I'd already set it up and done all the resolution adjustments). This was after 2 hours and a chat with my dad.

     I have a toshiba hd ready tv and a sony vaio laptop that has blu and a hdmi port. I connect the tv and the laptop together and the picture comes up perfectly on the tv screen but the audio completly shguts out altogether, both the laptop and the tv. I have even connected a stereo player to the laptop and still there is no sound. In my sound settings it shows the hdmi connection as working properly and the noise/sound bar moves accordingly to the video i am watching but i still cannot hear anything!      My Laptop is HMDI but my tv is S Video. Meu laptop é HMDI mas minha TV é S-Video. I tried to buy a HMDI DVD player and hook it up that way, but it didnt work because both my computer and the DVD Player are both OUT's.      Ok I have a problem with connecting my computer to my TV My computer has a VGA connection port but my TV doesn't, and my computer doesn't have an S Video port but my TV does.      I didn't want to get into buying anything too expensive since I probably won't be using it very often.      if your pc/laptop is not equipped with dvi output you can get vga to dvi adapter.      I have a VGA(15 pin) output on my notebook and I have an HDTV but it only has an odd shaped USB(not standard) and component/audio video input/output ports for stereo/video game etc…what do you recommend.      Hello i bought a HDMI to HDMI cord today at gay Best Buy.I am using a HP Pavilion DV4 special edition laptop and a 52″ sony grand wega tv. I've tried everything I can think of including updating my graphics card driver and still cannot get a picture on my screen. When i put tv on pc mode my laptop screen flashes for a second then returns to normal. In the ATI catalyst control center it recognizes my 2nd monitor but have tried every setting and get no picture on my screen. Anyone know how to fix this ill send them 1 billion dollars paypal cuz i already spent 1 billion hours trying to figure this out!

     When I connected my Dell XPS laptop to my Toshiba 40″ HDTV with a HDMI cable, I got only video but no audio. I then pulled out the manual, and found out that I should connect the PC audio output(headphone) to the TV audio input. I did that, and still no audio! Finally I went to the on-screen menu, audio settings, and set the HDMI audio input to analog. That did the trick. Que fez o truque. I am happy! Estou feliz!

     The HDMI transmits both video and audio in digital format, but the PC is probably transmitting the audio in analog format still, hence the disconnect.

     I'm not sure VGA to HDMI can work at all because the signals are too different. Unless you buy an actual transcoder box. Maybe someone more informed can respond.
