VideoDownloader is Firefox add-on that allows you to download videos from YouTube, Google, iFilm, DailyMotion, MetaCafe, and 60 other video sharing web sites for free! Actually, this add-on is cool because it lets you download ALL embeddable object on a web page, including movies, mp3s, flash animations, quicktime videos, etc. Using this add-on, you can download music videos, movies, and lots more!
Once installed, the VideoDownloader button appears in the status bar at the bottom right of the Firefox browser.

You can also add it to the toolbar buttons next to Back, Forward, and Refresh buttons by going to View and choosing Customize. Scroll down till you see the VideoDownloader icon and drag it after the Home icon in your Firefox browser.

So now your toolbar should look something like this:

To download a video, first go to a video web site and click on the video you want to download. Once the video starts playing, click on the VideoDownloader icon and a pop-up window will appear where you can left-click on the link to save the file.
For most sites, you can simply click and save the file. However, on YouTube, the file format is different and you have to change the extension of the file to .FLV before saving it. So you would click on the link, choose to save it, and rename the file to XXX.FLV. In Firefox, it starts to automatically save the file before you can rename it, so you can right-click on the download link and choose Save Link As.

Don’t worry about changing the “Save as type” field, just make sure to put the entire file name in quotes as shown above. And that’s it, you video should begin to download!

The add-on is kind of new, so you may get some weird errors like service unavailable or format is not supported, etc, but for the most part it works fairly well and is useful if you use Firefox as your main browser. Check it out!
