Download Music from YouTube to Play on MP3 Players
Posted on June 15, 2010 at 6:19 am
With the vast array of music videos available on YouTube, the site is a great place to find new, interesting music and old favorites as well. Downloading the music from a YouTube video to play on an iPod, Zune or other MP3 player can be tricky, but becomes exceptionally simple with FetchMP3.com.
FetchMP3 gives the choice of either pasting the direct URL of the video containing the song you want or using their search bar to find a video. After you have decided which way to search, click Fetch.
Your search results (or just the one video if you used a hyperlink) will appear in a list showing which videos were found on both YouTube and Daily Motion.
Click the green box with the plus sign next to any video to add it to your download queue.
You can then drag and drop any other videos you want to convert to MP3 files to the bottom left side of your screen to add them to your queue. When you have made all of your selections from this search list, click the link on the status bar at the bottom of the browser that says Download and View Sponsor (advertisements may be displayed behind downloads; we did not see one, but this is apparently how the site intends to make money).
You are prompted to choose a place on your computer to save the MP3 file. The name given to the file by FetchMP3 is very long, so you may want to shorten it.
The sound quality of the files we downloaded was very good. However, if you want a higher sound quality, or more control over sound quality, you can register with FetchMP3 to gain access to four levels of sound quality choices. Registration is free.
Firefox users have the option of downloading a browser plugin that gives access to the MP3 downloads faster.
FetchMP3’s service is easy to use, easy to navigate and provides a quick download. Our test ended with five, high-quality MP3’s—all found and downloaded in less than five minutes. If you are looking for an easy way to download new music, this site deserves a bookmark.
