Bookmarks are an essential component of a web browser. It helps us surfers remember, share, and manage all our website links. However, over time, we tend to carry too many bookmarks; not knowing that a lot of our saved links are already broken.
We also bookmark the same webpages (with the same contents) over and over again. These practices can result in poor and ineffective web folder management. Bookmarks will then be cluttered and harder to find.
Manage your bookmarks easily with AM-Deadlink. This program is a nimble bookmark organizer that can automatically detect inactive and duplicate website links. It works with Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Google Chrome.
AM-Deadlink can be downloaded at http://www.aignes.com/deadlink.htm. You can either click the Download or the Mirror link.
Click Save File to save the installer to your computer. After saving, the download will begin.
When the download is finish, open the setup file.
Press Run when you’re in the Security Warning page.
Follow all the required installation steps.
Select where you want the program to be installed — choose whether you want to install AM-Deadlink to your computer or to your USB stick. Click Next > to proceed.
When the setup is complete, check Launch AM-DeadLink and press Finish.
As a splash page, you’ll be asked to select your preferred program language. Click OK to continue.
This is the software’s main interface. The program will instantly load all saved Internet Explorer (the default web browser) bookmarks. If you want to access a different browser, click the Web Browser menu and select accordingly.
To check if all pre-loaded bookmarks have dead and duplicate links, click the Check Bookmarks button.
Depending on many are your bookmarks and how fast your internet connection is, the scan process will take approximately five minutes to finish. After the checking is done, the result and the status of each bookmark links will be displayed.
To arrange and place all dead bookmarks at the top of the list, click the Sort Bookmarks button.
All inactive links will then be displayed at the top. You can remove these dead bookmarks by hitting the Del key on your keyboard or by pressing the Delete button on AM-Deadlink. Once you’ve deleted these links, they will be automatically remove from your browser’s main bookmarks’ folder (no need to save it).
To check for duplicates, just click the Find duplicates button.
All duplicate bookmarks will be listed this way.
You can double-click each bookmark to show its contents. AM-Deadlink has its own built-in web browser, which can directly display that link’s contents.
You can export all bookmarks by accessing AM-Deadlink’s Export option.
All processes done above can be applied to Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome.
