Nice article. But how do I check my laptop's hdd RPM at the time of buying from the shop? , because the lap must be a customized one, and there is no chance to know the hdd model number unless I open the case!!.

@Denver,
have you upgraded to 7200 RPM, is there any significant difference in perfomance now?, I have ordered for a Dell Inspiron with a 5200 RPM HDD, I think I gonna be in trouble

Thanks for the info, now I know why my computer is so slow. I have a 5400 RPM drive running Windows Vista! I think I need to upgrade to 7200 RPM and Windows 7. Thanks.
