Quickly Empty the Trash in OS X Lion

For some reason, emptying the trash in OS X has always been a slow process, especially if you have a lot of files there. I tanked a huge folder that had over 10,000 items in it and it took a whopping 30 minutes to trash it! There isn’t too much you can do about this since it’s the way the operating system works, but if you know how to use Terminal and aren’t afraid of it, then you can speed up the process.

Export Videos from iPhoto 11

iPhoto 11 has some pretty cool features, such as Fullscreen Mode and facial recognition, which makes it really nice to use over Picasa if you are running on a Mac. However, there are some aspects of iPhoto 11 that might confuse you if you don’t understand how the software works.
For example, in iPhoto 11, your entire library is stored in one file called “iPhoto Library“. This is because by default iPhoto will manage your library for you. When you import a new photo or video, it will copy those files into the library and leave the original ones untouched. You can change this option under iPhoto Preferences – Advanced so that iPhoto points to the original location of the files instead of copying them to this library file.

I love my MacBook Pro running OS X Lion and I even use it as my primary machine nowadays. I find it more intuitive than Windows in terms of using the display space efficiently and how smoothly you can move through applications. That being said, there is one thing that has always bothered me and still does. Uninstalling programs!

What Happened to Spaces in OS X Lion?
Posted on July 23, 2011 - Filed Under Mac OS X | 3 Comments
If you have started using OS X Lion like I have, there are a few things you will have to get used too. Firstly, Spaces and Expose have been modified and turned into Mission Control. It’s actually pretty neat, but a little annoying in the beginning since everything has been changed pretty drastically.
One annoying problem that I’ve discoverd since using Lion is that the order of the spaces in Mission Control cannot be changed. There is an option in Lion that is set by default to automatically move the spaces that you use the most to the left and the least-used ones to the right. You can get to the option by going to System Preferences, Misson Control.
OS X Lion – The Network Backup Disk Does Not Support the Required AFP Features

OS X Lion was released yesterday and I was super excited to upgrade for all the new features like Launchpad, Mission Control and full-screen apps. Once installed, it’s definitely been worth the $30 to upgrade. Except for one little problem! After about an hour, I got a message from Time Machine telling me the backup failed to complete.
I took a look at the message and this was the error:
The network backup disk does not support the required AFP feature.
