If you are a Systems Administrator for your company and everyone is using Outlook or some other desktop email program, you’ve probably run into the situation where someone has lost all of their emails due to the fact that it’s saved locally on the user’s computer and not on the main servers. Horribly, I had this happen to me as I walked into work one morning (thankfully a Friday) and it took me a whole weekend to figure out what the problem was. Horriblemente, tuve que esto pasara a mí como que entré en una mañana de trabajo (afortunadamente un viernes) y me tomó toda una semana para averiguar cuál es el problema. Basically, the reason your server is hanging is because there is a service that is not loading correctly when Windows tries to start up. Básicamente, el motivo de su servidor es ahorcamiento se debe a que existe un servicio que no carga correctamente cuando se trata de iniciar Windows. So basically this service hangs and then your computer hangs! Así que, en principio este servicio se cuelga y, a continuación, el equipo se cuelga! And it might take 2 to 3 hours before you get to see the desktop…not really what you want to happen when you have 100’s of users wondering what’s going on!! Thankfully for me, most of the other services were able to load, so even though I was not able to get to the desktop, people were still able to access the network drives. I kinda went on a rant in my last post about preparing yourself before you go talk to your boss about a raise, so this one will be about what to actually say. Yo iba bastante en un rant en mi última entrada sobre la preparación antes de que usted vaya usted hable con su jefe acerca de un aumento, por lo que éste será sobre lo que realmente dicen. Again, before you can do this, you really have to believe you’ve done something useful and that you are worth the higher amount you are asking for. Ok, so if you’re in IT and you work for a small company, you need to fight your way into getting any kind of decent compensation. Small companies are cheap when it comes to paying out to their IT people, which is completely not cool especially if you’re the only man running the place!!
