Lessen waard het leren - hoe NIET anoniem op Internet te blijven

Ik blogging nu ongeveer 5 maanden en ik heb absoluut van het gehele proces genoten: sprekend met andere bloggers, schrijvend over materiaal dat ik, creërend mijn eigen uniek teken op de wereld heb gehouden van, hebbend mensen contacteer me die stelt vragen, enz. Het is het laatste deel dat ik enkel over mensen vermeldde die me contacteren wie ik me op voor deze post ga concentreren.

Als u mijn naam over een jaar moest gezocht te hebben geleden, Aseem Kishore, zou u een bos van ingangen over Indische babynamen gevonden hebben, één of andere Aseem Kishore van India dat iets in computers (hoe schokkend!) doet, en meestal een bos van plaatsen met of „Aseem“ of „Kishore“ binnen daar afzonderlijk, maar niet samen.

GOED ZIJN DE DINGEN!! VERANDERD! Ik deed enkel een onderzoek een weinig naar mijn naam terwijl geleden en de jongen ik schokte uit mijn mening was! IK BEN HELEMAAL OVER DE PLAATS! Ik ben niet alleen het eerste resultaat in Google, maar ook de tweede, de vijfde, de zesde, de zevende, de achtste, de negende, de tiende, elfde, twaalfde, dertiende, veertiende… EN het GEHOUDEN GAAN van IT ENKEL! Het was als ik las een boek over mij. Ik herinner me altijd denkend een paar jaren geleden dat het zo koel zou zijn om #1 in een onderzoek Google (vandaar de reden waarom ik mijn van tijd tot tijd elke naam) te tonen probeer, maar ik dacht nooit ik omhoog het zijn zou beëindigen in 71 van de hoogste 100 resultaten!

Zelfs daarna 100, was ik in daar meer tijden dan ik spoor van kon houden! Dit zeker niet is anoniem! Eigenlijk, is het nergens dichtbij het! U kunt niet alleen mijn telefoonaantal, e-mailadres, huisadres vinden gemakkelijk, maar u kunt ook te weten komen van welke boeken en movies ik via mijn profiel houd van Amazonië, welk nieuws me via mijn rekening Newsvine interesseert, welke soorten dingen die ik ongeveer via mijn blog en artikelfolderprofielen heb geschreven, en wat ik momenteel via mijn Twitter rekening!! doe! Eng!

Nu zullen uw resultaten zijn waarschijnlijk lichtjes verschillend worden gebaseerd die op waar u van zoekt, maar u zou het zelfde in hoogste 100 min of meer moeten zien. Hier is de hoogste reeks resultaten voor me in Google:

1. Het profiel van Blogger - Dit was mijn eerste blog toen I eerst begon.

2. De Rekening van Newsvine

Posities 3 en 4. Aseem Kishore van MIT (NIET ME)

Na dat, is het ALLE ME tot nummer 17! Zo uit de eerste 17 resultaten, slechts zijn er TWEE dat niets heeft met me te doen!

Lesson to be learned from this post is that if you want to remain an anonymous soul on the Internet, you better make sure you don’t start a blog or create a user profile on any social networking site. Personally, I don’t mind it very much, but I’m sure there are many people who create online profiles or post opinions thinking that no one will ever see it or find it.

As an experiment, type your name into Google and see if you show up or not! Come back here and post a comment with the number of times you showed up in the Top 100 search results. We’ll make it into a competition! Actually, now that I’m in 71 out of 100 results, I think it’ll be fun to see if I can get all 100!

What is even more frightening is the tendency for outdated or sometimes completely inaccurate information to proliferate. 7 years ago I bought a domain for a personal web site. The web host was is in Canada, I am in the US. A search of my name revealed that my web site (which was a personal site and had not been updated in years) was being listed as a Canadian on-line business in a some emerging business directory site.

As information becomes more public on the net, there will be a growing burden on the individual to not only manage what is out there, but also maintain it’s accuracy.

For this reason, I’ve set up a Google alert of my own name. It has helped me find at least half a dozen inaccurate records on web site that I did not consent to be a part of.

I didnt counted abt 100 but 50
I got 15 myself in first 50
and 6/10 on 1st page.
There are many many Siddharth Maheshwari but I believe I am unique.
Most of the others were of some meeting or some instituions.

I’ve “googled” my own “Real name” before and got hit’s in the top 10 list from a website of a company that I just do contract work for.
It would appear that it’s next to “Impossible” to be “hidden” from the peering eyes of the net. If your employer has a web site, chances are you could be on it somewhere and google will find it.
but if you wish to remain a bit “more” anonymous just don’t use your full name for things like forums, blogs, newsgroup discussions, and the like,

which is why I use Fdisk as surname.
