A blog that rates the best and worst of blog directories

I’m not sure how many bloggers submit their sites to blog directories (like I do), but if you do, then you must have figured out by now that there are a whole lot of directories out there to choose from to list your site on! While searching for some directory ratings, I came across http://blog-dir.blogspot.com/ in the Google search results.

Each post in the blog reviews one blog directory and gives a little info about the author’s experience trying to submit his site to that directory. I’ve read many sites that have info on which directories are the best, but it’s good to know which ones are bad also. The site is useful because some directories have a nice web site and look like good picks, but have problems or issues that you don’t realize until later on.

The site is not updated very regularly, but it still has a good amount of directories listed to look into at least once. There is also another site that I found called Best Web Directories that also has some info on various directories.

They also give some extra information such as the current PR of the directory, the link approval time, and whether they also have links to adult and gambling sites. That’s important since Google can possibly penalize your site for being associated with a site that links to porn or gambling.

Here’s another good list of blog directories from Nicole Allard that was written in Feb of 2007 so a little more up date than the other two. The main thing to remember about directories is that you should not be REQUIRED to put a link back to the directory site. If you want to help the directory, that’s ok, it won’t really hurt you (at least I think, comment if I’m wrong!).
