I’m a big Google person and it’s always nice when they update their products with lots of nice features or quality improvements. If you haven’t had time to check everything out, here’s a quick browse through of the latest new products and software updates from Google.

If you haven’t heard, Microsoft has released their web analytics tool called Gatineau into private beta testing. I signed up for this and was lucky enough to receive an invitation to try out the new Google Analytics competitor! I’ve only been using it for a day, so my review of Gatineau will not be complete, but I’ll try to give the best opinion with the data that I have. Also, I’ll try and compare and contrast Google Analytics and Microsoft Gatineau as we go along.

Free online personal budgeting and financial planning software

I’ve been using Quicken to manage my personal finances and budgets for over a year now and have been pretty happy. Note “pretty”, but not completely. As a personal financial management software, Quicken does a good job of pulling in data from multiple accounts and generating pretty reports on spending, etc. However, it doesn’t support some of my financial institutions and it only runs on my laptop.

Mint.com, a very cool web-based financial planning software that’s completely free, is super quick to setup and brings you all of the power of Quicken to the web! Mint.com has some pretty nice features:

How many times have you needed to make a conference call with a group of clients or friends, yet didn’t any way of doing without signing up for some $20 a month web service!? Don’t have a corporate Blackberry but wish you could receive your emails on your mobile phone? There have been many occasions when it’s proved quite useful for me to have my emails forwarded as text messages to my Verizon cell phone. Of course, trying to setup email access on my LG phone is close to impossible and would cost me an extra $20 a month for web access, etc.
